Hundreds of organisations show their commitment to online security by supporting this year's Cyber Smart Week.

The seventh annual Cyber Smart Week will take place 30 October – 5 November 2023.

CERT NZ hosts Cyber Smart Week every year to promote cyber security and resilience for New Zealanders.

And CERT NZ has already seen a record number of organisations sign up as supporters.

“Last year 514 organisations took part, which was a record. This year we have already surpassed 800, with five weeks still to go,” CERT NZ’s Manager, Engagement, Communications and Partnerships Jane O’Loughlin said.

CSW 2023 has also locked in seven industry partners to help share the message with their extensive customer base: Westpac, BNZ, ASB, Kiwibank, 2degrees, Harvey Norman and TradeMe.

“We're excited to have this set of household names come on board to share our cyber security messages to a wider audience," O'Loughlin said.

"We're looking forward to working alongside them to promote good online practices and helping all New Zealanders to own their online experience.”

Research done by CERT NZ shows workplaces have a positive role to play in increasing cyber awareness. People learn to implement cyber security behaviours at work that they may not have done otherwise.

Research also indicated that small-to-medium organisations were highly concerned about cyber security.

“Cyber security incidents can play havoc with your business reputation, productivity and financial health,” O’Loughlin said.

“Cyber Smart Week is an opportunity to put cyber security top of mind for your organisation, with easy actions to help keep you safe.  There’s no cost to joining us for Cyber Smart Week, and we welcome all organisations, big or small.”

Organisations can sign up to be Cyber Smart Week Supporters on the CERT NZ website.
