This Cyber Smart Week we want to raise the importance of being secure online by showing New Zealanders what's at stake when we don't get our cyber security right.

EXPOSED is a photo exhibition that features larger-than-life portraits of real people targeted by attackers while going about their lives online. We're sharing the stories of these New Zealanders to highlight the impact of cybercrime, and to encourage others to protect themselves online.

You’ll see these stories and images on our digital and outdoor channels. If you’re in Auckland, you can also visit the free exhibition from Tuesday 31 October – Thursday 2 November, 10am – 4 pm at Auckland’s Tuesday Club, 42 Airedale Street, Auckland CBD.

Own Your Online

Cyber Smart Week will also see the launch of CERT NZ's new programme Own Your Online. Own Your Online is a new website that helps individuals and businesses understand the online world by explaining common cyber threats and providing practical cyber security advice.

Research conducted by CERT NZ shows that most New Zealanders are aware of and concerned about cyber attacks, but aren’t doing enough to protect themselves online. They also see cyber security as being technical and complex and often do not know where to start. Our new website simplifies cyber security and provides relatable ‘how to’ guides and information to:

· know most common risks and threats

· get protected from cyber attacks

· check to see if you’ve been scammed

· get help if you’ve been the target of an attack.

Stay cyber smart all year round

Cyber Smart Week is also a great time to assess and strengthen your cyber security. While CERT NZ works with its partner organisations to take down malicious sites and keep you safe, you can play a part in fortifying your cyber defence, too.
